IV sedation allows patients to enter into a twilight sleep-like state. Patients who
undergo IV sedation often find that the procedure is over before they know it has
begun. You may not eat or drink anything for at least eight hours before having IV
sedation, and you will need a responsible adult to drive you home after your
appointment.
If you have difficulty staying still in the chair, or if you have anxiety about the
procedure, IV Sedation can be a great option for you. In some cases, we will
recommend you have IV Sedation for your comfort during a long or complicated
treatment. IV sedation is not necessary or suitable for everyone’s treatment.
Please call our office to find out if you are a candidate.
Typically, you will feel groggy after your procedure and may have a slight
headache and nausea. During the recovery process, our team will monitor your
vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen levels. You usually will be
observed for one to two hours after the procedure before you are able to return
home with your driver. your next treatment.
To book IV sedation you will need to coordinate in advance with our staff since
Sedations are not done every day, and only done on specific dates and time.

Nitrous Oxide gas is often used to reduce surgery anxiety. Nitrous oxide
and local anesthesia are used together to help patients relax and ease the
surgical procedure. You can do Nitrous Oxide in our office without booking
in advance and there will be no need for fasting prior the treatment. The
effects of laughing gas will wear off within about 5 minutes after your
procedure is over, and you’ll feel normal and will be able to do things like
operate a car and return to work. You may feel a little nauseated or
confused for a bit, but this wears off quickly.
