If your teeth grow in without causing problems, they will not need to be removed,
but in most cases, removing them prevents oral and dental health problems.
Early wisdom teeth removal can prevent the following issues:
Some of these problems can cause serious bone damage if not treated quickly.
Having the molars evaluated regularly can help prevent unnecessary pain and
discomfort for you or your child.
Although permanent teeth were meant to last a lifetime, there are a number of reasons why tooth extraction may be needed. For example, we will recommend extraction if you have the following issues.
Very often we can replace your extracted tooth with an implant on that same day
avoiding multiple surgeries.
Canine teeth are some of the most likely to become impacted (not erupted in the
mouth). They have very long roots, which means they require a lot of space.
When teeth are overcrowded, sometimes there is not enough room for canines to
come in. In other cases, the baby teeth do not fall out in time for the new teeth to
develop. Unusual growths can also block the growth track of the canines, making
it impossible for the teeth to emerge normally. Impacted teeth treatment is
coordinated with an orthodontist and the teeth are exposed and bonded in our
clinic. If you or your child requires care for impacted teeth you can rest assured
that they are in good hands at our Jerusalem office.
Autogenous Tooth Transplantation
Auto-transplantation or autogenous transplantation is defined as the movement
of one tooth from one position to another, within the same person. This could
involve the transfer of impacted, embedded, or erupted teeth into extraction sites
or into surgically prepared sockets.
There are many reasons for tooth auto-transplantation, but the most common
indication is teeth to be extracted due to advanced caries destruction: In
adolescents, the first permanent molars erupt early and are often heavily
restored. When the first molar is lost in a young patient, it can result in abnormal
occlusion because of tooth migration and due to uneven jaw growth. Thus,
treatment of such patients should be aimed at maintenance of lost tooth space
without alterations to the growing jaw.
